01

Hot strip mill work rolls

  • Flat products
  • Non-ferrous metals

Hot strip mill work rolls are special rolls that are mainly found in rolling processes in the metalworking industry. They process steel and other metals at temperatures above the recrystallization temperature. The rolling stock temperatures are up to 1300°C. Their main function is to reduce the thickness of the rolling stock and improve its mechanical properties. They are in direct contact with the hot metal and must withstand high thermal and mechanical loads. For this reason, there are a large number of materials and variations for this type of roll in order to ideally adapt the roll to the application.

02

Roughing rolls

  • Flat products
  • Non-ferrous metals

Roughing rolls are also used in rolling processes in the metalworking industry. They are the first to come into contact with the metal in a continuous rolling process and are used to prepare the material before the finishing rolling process. They carry out pre-forming to bring the material to the desired thickness, shape and surface finish in order to then ensure a uniform and controlled rolling process in the finishing train.

03

Plate mill rolls

  • Flat products
  • Non-ferrous metals

Plate mill rolls are used specifically for the production of sheets of steel or other metals and play an important role in the metal industry. These rolls are used to roll slabs into large metal plates. The material is reduced to the desired thickness and defined surfaces are created. The heavy plates are typically used for applications in shipbuilding, mechanical and plant engineering, industrial plants and other large structures as well as in pipe production.

04

Steckel rolls

  • Flat products

Steckel rolls are used in Steckel stands, whereby a single roll stand fulfills the rolling task of an entire wide strip finishing train (with up to 7 stands). Therefore, particularly high demands are placed on the material and wear resistance of the rollers. During the rolling process, the rolling stock reverses between two coilers and is continuously reduced in the Steckel stand until the final product thickness is reached. We also offer individually tailored materials and solutions for this special rolling application.

05

Backup rolls

  • Flat products
  • Non-ferrous metals

Backup rolls are used to support and stabilize the work rolls during the rolling process. The backup rolls also absorb loads from the rolling process and relieve the load on the work rolls. This enables greater reductions in the rolling process, the production of thinner rolled products or the production of high-strength grades. They are used in a wide range of rolling applications, primarily in the rolling of metals in hot and cold forming processes.

06

Edger rolls

  • Flat products
  • Long products
  • Non-ferrous metals

During a rolling process, the rolled material is elongated. However, this always occurs in combination with the rolled product expanding in width. Edger rolls are used here to reduce the expansion in width and to keep the rolled material in shape on the flanks. They are mainly used in metal processing and are available in various shapes, dimensions and variants. Both solid bodies and rings on axes are used.

07

Skin pass rolls

  • Flat products

These rolls are mainly used in cold forming metal processing after a hot rolling process. Their purpose is to process or "dress" the surface of sheets and strips by removing irregularities or other surface defects and improving the mechanical properties. This ensures that the rolled products continue to have unrestricted quality and precision, even in relation to downstream processes. In addition to correcting unevenness, this rolling process also sets a defined surface roughness. Dressing rolls are used in steel production, in places where high demands are placed on surface quality.

08

Pinch Roll

  • Flat products

Pinch rolls are special rolls used in the steel and metal processing of strips. They are used to redirect the rolled product after the rolling process into a coiler, where the product is coiled.

09

Cold strip work rolls

  • Flat products
  • Non-ferrous metals

Cold strip rolls are used to process metal strip at low temperatures below its recrystallization temperature by further reducing the thickness of the rolled material, smoothing the surface and thereby improving the product properties. The shape and flatness of the rolled material can also be adjusted by roll bending. These rolls are used for rolling processes for various metals such as steel or aluminum.

10

Section mill rolls

  • Long products

Section mill rolls are used in the manufacture of long products. For this purpose, they are equipped with an individual calibration, which is crucial for the shape of the rolled product. These rolls are used to produce, for example, rails, angles, beams, U-profiles, T-profiles, hollow profiles and bars as well as wires.

11

Profile rings / universal rolling rings / Diescher discs

  • Long products

Profile rings or universal rolling rings as well as Diescher discs are specially shaped rings of different sizes that are often mounted on axes and are used to shape the rolled material. Like section mill rolls, they are used in the manufacture of long products to enable precise shaping and processing of the metal. These rings are used in the manufacture of angles, beams, U-profiles, I-profiles, T-profiles and pipes, among other things.

12

Straightening rolls

  • Long products

Straightening rolls are used to correct the thickness and profile of metal strip or sheet, as well as long products. They are typically used after the rolling process to remove any irregularities or deformations in the material and to ensure uniform thickness and a precise profile.

13

Assel and piercing rolls

  • Long products

Piercing rolls drive a solid metal rod over a mandrel, creating a hole in the center. Assel rolls then reduce the hole created and roll the tube to the desired wall thickness and dimension. The tube is lengthened while simultaneously reducing its wall thickness. In this way seamless tubes are produced that are used in various industries.

14

Peripherally drilled rolls

  • Rubber
  • Food
  • Plastics
  • Paper
  • Battery

Peripherally drilled rolls have end-to-end drills that form a complex system of holes for passing cooling or heating fluids through. This means that the rolled material is either cooled or heated in a specific manner. In addition, depending on the application, these rolls are designed with a defined surface roughness up to a mirror finish and are also ground with the finest tolerances in terms of concentricity and shape. The applications for these rolls are diverse and range from plastics production to tire production to food processing.

15

IT calenders

  • Rubber
  • Plastics

An IT calender, also known as an inverted tension calender, is used to produce materials such as plastics or rubber in sheet form. Due to the residual stress that develops in the rolled product, it falls into a flat shape after separation from the roll without any further processing and can then be processed further.

16

Hollow cast rolls

  • Rubber
  • Food
  • Plastics
  • Paper

Hollow cast rolls are rolls that have a defined hollow chamber inside. In contrast to peripherally drilled rolls, the chamber inside the roll is formed during casting. This ensures that these rolls have a defined chamber and wall thickness in the barrel area. This chamber is used to specifically control the temperature of the rolls during use. A wide variety of surfaces and corrugations can be created to adapt the rolls to their intended use.

17

Roller shells

  • Food
  • Ceramics

Roller shells are cast components that are particularly robust and hard. They are used in rolling mills for the crushing and comminution of clay or other ceramic and mineral materials.

18

Pan mill rings

  • Ceramics

Pan mill rings are circular rings that are used in pan mills. These are systems that are used to crush, mix and moisten kneadable to semi-solid clay. Like roller shells, they are used in the brickworks and ceramics industries.
